Walden School closed in 2017. The once vibrant bustling atmosphere of the site has been left desolate. The community has expressed their concerns as the once stand-out red brick building becomes an eyesore to the town.
The scheme is to retain the façade of the former school and demolish the rear to allow for a contemporary, bright gallery along with additional spaces to benefit the local community. The development will have a strong contrast from old to new whilst incorporating repeated aspects throughout the design.
